Who Am I?
I grew up in Stockton, California — a place where community matters and opportunity is not guaranteed.
My father worked the fields with his brothers and sisters to make ends meet. He ran through life’s challenges so he could hand me a baton. The question — who gets opportunity, and why — has guided every step of my journey.
Over twenty years ago, I left a job in venture capital to become a high school math teacher. I have been in education ever since. Today, I am the president of Champlain College, a leader in career-focused education. Through our upside-down curriculum and by partnering with leading employers on course projects, internships and co-ops, our students graduate Champlain Ready.
